The HR Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of benefits for TryIt and Balkan Beverages, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401K plan, supplemental benefits, the FSA and HSA plans and retiree benefits/ relations.
Essential Functions (must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation): 

1.       Achieve individual quarterly and annual goals.

2.       Assist the Department and Company in achieving its quarterly and annual goals.

3.       Increase Department workload efficiency by 25% in first 90 days, increase 50% first year.


1.       Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. Design and distribute materials as required for benefits orientations, qualified status changes, eligibility, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions.

2.       Provide benefits education and support to all stakeholders on an ongoing cadence

at new hire enrollment, qualified status changes and other general benefits related inquiries regarding benefit claims issues and plan changes.

3.       Process employee enrollments and qualified status changes with carriers and update the ADP database.

4.       Performs regularly scheduled quality checks of benefits-related data.

5.       Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in ADP to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information as well as accurate premium deductions and employee contributions.

6.       Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain an updated group benefits database with information from vendors.

7.       Assist with new-hire orientation for all benefit enrollment options. Manage new hire Mentor Program.

8.       Ensures the organizations and plans compliance with the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.

9.       Acts as direct contact for COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, hardships and compliance testing.

10.   Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, PFL, disability and FMLA. Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.

11.   Responds to 401(k) inquiries from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the auto enroll/auto increase annually. Coordinates profit share information.

  1. Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting, i.e., Form 1095, and fees and reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

13.   Conducts employee surveys, census, and other research and data. Tracks PTO for department managers, coordinates distribution of Holiday cards and Annual Service Award presentations.

14.   Process annual Benefits Statements for Stakeholders.

15.   Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Workers’ Compensation, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
  •  Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of benefits contract language.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related business field, and a minimum of three years of related experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or CEBS professional designations preferred.


Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to stand for 45-60 minutes for company presentations.



Work Environment:
Works in an indoor office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
